Bars & Alcohol
There are bars in every nook and cranny in Kyoto city serving all types of drinks and cocktails. Beware, some bars have cheap drinks to attract customers, but there is an undisclosed seating charge that range from ¥500yen to ¥2000yen. There are pubs such as the Pig and Whistle, The Hub that are more reasonably priced and a beer will cost between ¥280 to ¥500yen, cocktail from ¥500 to ¥2000yen, and shot drinks starting at ¥500yen.
The tradition alcohol beverage in Japan is sake (e is pronounced as egg). Depending on the quality, high quality sake is a very enjoyable drink, cold or warm. Beer, and oceans of it, is drunk every year by Japanese people, they love their beer! The best brewery company in Japan is located in Yamazaki just south-west of Kyoto City and it makes one of the highest awarded best tasting beers. The largest share of the beer market goes to Kirin Brewery, Asahi Brewery, Suntory Brewery and then Sapporo Brewery, respectively. It is not unusual to see a petite Japanese woman drinking 6 to 8 glasses of beer and remain polite and coherent. Macho guys can certainly learn from their example.
