There are many different kinds of department stores, supermarkets and shops in and around Kyoto city to meet your every need. They are usually open from 10am to 8pm, seven days a week (Some are closed New Year’s Day). The main department stores in Kyoto are Takashimaya, Daimaru and Isetan. The main supermaket stores are JUSCO and Heiwado. The shop people are very helpful and friendly.
